St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands

St. Thomas is one of the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is located in the Caribbean Sea is only 31.24 square miles and has a population of just over 50,000. St. Thomas is a great vacation spot for the whole family!

Charlotte Amalie is at the heart of the island and many cruise ships stop by all the time. Here are a few pictures of the area:

Things to do and places to stay at St. Thomas

Coral World

One of the best and most popular attractions at St. Thomas is Coral World Ocean Park. It has many exibits and activities that the whole family can enjoy! And its educational too! You can feed stingrays, touch sea cucumbers, watch sharks up close and much, much more!

Skyride

Another popular thing to do is the 'Skyride to Paradise Point'. It is a 7 minutes aerial cable car ride that goes 700 feet above sea level. On top are shops, a bird show, a restaurant and perfect views of St. Thomas and nearby islands.

Beaches

St. Thomas has many nice beaches for swimming, snorkeling and more! Magans Bay is very popular and beautiful. Coki Beach offers great snorkeling opportunities - lots of interesting coral inhabitants close to the beach. Sapphire Beach and Secret Harbor are also big favorites.

Butterfly Farm

The Butterfly Farm is one of my favorites places! They have an enclosed area with many different species of tropical butterflies from around the world as well as an outside butterfly garden to help attract native butterflies to the area. It is located right on the Cruise Ship Dock, Havensight Mall.

Need a place to stay?

Need a place to stay at St. Thomas? There are many hotels and resorts on the island, but if you are looking for a place that is small and casual, reasonably priced with a nice, peaceful beach I recommend Bolongo Bay Resort. (Not a paid endorsement - I just had a good experience staying there.)

Little known fact about St. Thomas

St. Thomas also has a bridge to no where! I saw it! It's a short brige - that doesn't connect to anything on either end!
