My first child (daughter) was born in 1972 and we didn't watch TV much at all (we read through the House on the Prairie books and other things). I never really thought at all about someone kidnapping her. My son was born in 1988 and by then it was talked about alot and I didn't feel comfortable for him to be out by himself playing until he was alot older. And I'm not really a worrier, it was just consciously there in the forefront because it was talked about alot by then. So I'm glad to hear that it really wasn't as bad as they said.
