Ideas For Women News Blog.

Hello! Welcome to my blog!

I missed it!

I can’t believe I missed that this past weekend was the 160th anniversary of the first (US) women’s rights convention at Seneca Falls! I’ve been behind in reading feeds or I would have seen it at Zuska’s blog: Happy Anniversary, Seneca Falls!

It still took 72 years from that conference before women had the right to vote. Sometimes its hard to put that into perspective isn’t it? To not be allowed to vote just because you are female.

And did you know that most of the organizers of that convention were Quakers?

A long time ago (seems like ages ago) I wrote up something for Women’s History Month about some of these women including Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony and Lucretia Mott. For some reason Elizabeth Cady Stanton has always been my favorite of the women who fought for equal rights.

I wrote it in part for people to use to teach kids about women’s issues (know any homeschoolers who might be interested?) and it also includes some fun activities like a word search, crossword puzzle and more (questions, Match-The-Quotes, and unscramble words) - all about women’s rights and printer friendly.

Yep, 70 years is not a very long time, but long enough to make young women not think too much about that right. It is amazing how many young do not vote when less than 100 years ago they are not allow to.
